## What the thing actually is
It's a handheld spot cleaner — not a vacuum, not a carpet machine. Think wet/dry extractor you can hold in one hand. The 18Kpa suction is stronger than most handhelds I've seen at this price, and that gap matters more than the spec sheet makes it sound. Weak suction leaves your carpet wet for three hours. Decent suction and it's mostly dry in 20 minutes.
The cleaning tool sprays water, scrubs, and extracts in one pass. You fill a small tank, press the attachment against the stain, and let it work. ## On the car
Car carpet is annoying to clean. The angles are bad, the pile is usually tight, and anything that soaks in tends to stay there. I had a coffee stain on my driver's side floor mat that had been sitting for two weeks because I kept forgetting to deal with it.

The 18Kpa suction pulled liquid out properly. I used it on a spot my dog left on the living room rug, and the water that came back into the dirty tank was visibly brown — which means it was extracting material, not just wetting the surface and hoping for the best. I ran it twice with clean water between passes. The stain came out. The smell was mostly gone by morning.
One thing: the cleaning tool is stiff to press down on thick rugs. On my low-pile living room rug, no problem. On the shaggy bedroom rug, I had to hold it down with real pressure to get good contact. It worked, just took more effort than I'd like.

## The self-cleaning function, which I didn't expect to care about

With this one, you run clean water through the system after each session. It flushes out what's left in the lines. If you do it right after cleaning and leave the tanks open to dry, the machine itself stays reasonably clean. I've used it probably a dozen times now and it doesn't smell yet.
To be fair: if you let dirty water sit in the tank for several days, it's going to smell regardless. This isn't a substitute for basic maintenance. But the self-clean cycle makes the basic maintenance easy enough that I actually do it, which is the real benefit.

## The part I wish I'd known before buying
The tank is small. On a big spill or anything covering more than a couple square feet, you'll refill it several times. It's not annoying exactly, but it's worth knowing. This is a spot cleaner — it fills a specific gap between paper towels and hauling out a full-size machine.
It does that job well. My car looks better. My dog's favorite cushion looks better. I'm not dragging a 20-pound machine out of a closet at 7am anymore.
